On 6/26/10, I went to this new store called Island Paradise Clothing on Saint Simons Island and bought a lot of clothes. I was told by the clerk that I could return them, if I needed to or changed my mind for a full refund. I got home and noticed the white dress was see-through and the grey dress had threads coming undone. I also saw some of the skirts did not fit as well as I was told by the clerks. The next day on 06/27/10, I went back to the store. A clerk who called herself Mary, but refused to provide her last name, told me they would only exchange the items. I told them I wanted a refund, as I was told I could the evening before. There was no sign with their return policy and nothing on the receipt as well. After thirty minutes of her trying to reach the ‘owner’ who she kept calling Gallub – I think Michael Gallub is his name, she tried to add up the returns. She stalled so long, just adding simple numbers waiting for this owner to call. He did, and he said no returns. The clerk handed me the phone and later he then told me to wait until he gets there and he would return the items, because his clerk was new and did not know how to do it. I waited longer, and when he arrived he tried to sneak a hand written sign that said no refunds, only exchanges. He pointed to it and said that he would not issue a refund. I went and got my camera and took video. His clerk took the sign away, because she knew it was not there. She admitted that herself. Overall, the owner and the clerks lied about their return policy. When I tried to tell a customer who was buying something, make sure you like it because they will not refund your money, the clerk went crazy – telling me not to say that. The clerks lie about the return policy, prey upon tourists and locals and then do not honor any return policy they do tell you. NEVER BUY HERE. Something stinks here. Something else is going on here, than just horrible business practices.
