During Christmas of 2013, I was in Kmart Supercenter in Memphis Tn. when i was informed by a sales associate about a program called Why not lease it program. Interested in saving money, I went to the customer service desk to get more information about this program. After standing in line for almost 15 minutes, I was redirected to yet another line and was told that i would have to apply for a line of credit to see how much I would qualify for. In doing so, I qualified for $800 of instore credit through the Wht not lease it program. I spoke with sales associate and was informed that that amount or less had to spent in Kmart before the expiration date printed on the bottom of the receipt. I was also imformed that the amount spent would be the amount i had to pay back. Well, I was able to get my kids the things they wanted with a little money saved. I was very thankful!! I understood that the payments would be taken from my checking account bi-weekly, on the assigned dates setup by WNL program. In agreement to the dates and the amount to be electronically deducted from my account each month, I was very shocked when I discovered that my account would be electronically drafted for 18 months unless I paid the WNL program an extra $350.00, whoch is what is called a buy out amount. I contacted the WNL program and was told that my account would be drafted each month for $105 unless I couls pay the buy out amount or until the end of the 18 month term. I was under the impression thaat the assosiates were not knowledgeable of the program or they were told to mislead customers about the payment plans. I was also told by a representative that i could either pay the buy out amount or i could return all the items. So rude!!!!
