Complaint: We purchased a used vehicle and to protect ourselves, we also purchased an extended warranty the same day. A few months after buying the vehicle we experienced problems and called CARS warranty company to make sure we did everything by the book. CARS said we could take the truck anywhere for repairs. The repair facility came to the conclusion, after SIX WEEKS of back and forth with the warranty company, the vehicle needed a new transmission and some rear end work. CARS was not convinced and wanted the entire transmission torn down. Of course, CARS does not pay for diagnostic work but would not pay anything unless the work was done. After many days of diagnostic work (at $72.00/hour), CARS agrees that the transmission is bad. Now eights weeks later (with no vehicle while I make car payments), CARS decided that we can only put in used parts, nothing new, and that $72.00/hour was too much to pay, they would pay $48.00/hour labor rate. Well of course the repair facility will not warranty used parts so we opt to pay the difference out of pocket for new parts. Through it all, every person I ever spoke with at CARS was as rude and nasty as anyone I have ever encountered. Now 13 WEEKS later (still no truck), CARS decides they will pay $1380.00 OF A $4800.00 repair bill! This is OUTRAGEOUS! They make us wait months while all along making car payments and running up thousands of dollars in diagnostic costs and they pay whatever the want. This was certainly not in the contract. Here is the real kick…that was back in December, it’s now May, we haven’t seen a single penny. No one returns our calls and several times when we have called them, they have hung up on us after hearing our name. Isn’t that a great way to run a business?
