American Bartending Institute refusal of refund for non delivery of product Santa Barbara California!!
While perusing the classified ads in my local newspaper, I found an ad for bartending trainees. The ad offered/promised $250/day for bartending. When I called the # , I was told that what they were offering was a correspondance course, and upon completion of the test, placement in a bar. I was told that there were 5(five) positions available in my town that day. Excited about my new carreer opportunity, I ordered the course. The course order was made on the 5th of August, 2003. Today’s date is the 2nd of September, 2003. I have not recieved my course. I have made several attempts to follow up on my order, which have been thwarted by exceptionally rude customer service personnel. First I was told that they were waiting for my check to clear. I called the bank and my check had cleared several days before. I called them back to tell them that the check had cleared, and was told that the order would be shipped that day. Then, when my order did not arrive as promised, I called back to inquire as to its status. I was then told that the order had not shipped until the 18th! Five days after my check had cleared the bank! I was asked to wait patiently for my order to arrive, and if it did not arrive by the time specified, to call back. At the end of the specified time I called back. I was informed that my order had not in fact been shipped on the 18th, that there was a shipping problem. I re-re-re- verified my shipping information. The woman was very short with me and said that I would have to wait until that Friday (29th) for my order to arrive. Well, I waited yet another week, impatiently. Friday the 29th came and went. Saturday the 30th as well. When I called this morning, (Tuesday the 2nd of Sept.) I was attacked verbally and told that ‘she’ didn’t understand why I had an attitude. Apparently they are used to people just throwing away $98.90 like they have money to burn. I asked for a full refund, as the jobs that were there at the beginning of August were now gone. I was told flatly that their policy was to re-ship my order and that I would have to wait for it to arrive in order to send it back. Now, after all this time, what good is re-shipping an order that the customer doesn’t want, wouldn’t trust, and doesn’t need? She wouldn’t give me her name or her supervisor. When I asked for a full refund, she became hostile. Well, when I went searching the internet for their company and someone else to complain to, all I could find were complaints that other people had made. So for what good it will do, here’s my complaint. I read one of the other complaints, and there was a reply by the ‘owner’. I would dearly love to speak to this owner and tell him about my experience being RIPPED OFF by his company. Wes Redding, CaliforniaU.S.A.
